In the summer of 2006, myself and three friends packed our bags and our selves into a 1988 Astro Van. We traced the country counter-clockwise, and cruised the western edge. I brought my Nikon Fm-10 35mm, a couple of beat up lenses, and 80 rolls of cheap color negative film. My intention was to burn through it, recording the journey, and building up my negative palette for use elsewhere.
I shot with constructed panoramas building themselves in my mind, rapid-firing my shutter across the landscape, collecting all that I could. While looking over the contact sheets, some of the resulting sequences caught my attention. They were worth hanging onto, so I scanned and printed them big. The original 35mm negatives are being incorporated into future projects.
