4x4" film mosaic constructed from 120 color black and white negatives and 35mm
color slides
scanned with a digital camera
This 4x4" constructed negative film mosaic was assembled from one long exposure of star trails around the North Star that was taken from 10pm to 11pm on July 3rd, 2024 in the Outer Banks, North Carolina with a Pentax 6x7 camera and 55mm lens on 120 Kodak Portra 800 speed color negative film, three exposures of clouds taken on May 26th, 2024 with a Pentax 6x7 camera and 135mm lens on 120 Kodak T-MAX 100 speed black and white negative film, two found microscopic slide photographs of steer mandible actinomycosis on Kodachrome color reversal film, and four found microscopic slide photographs of vibrio infiltration and IBR/IPV necrosis in a cow uterus on Kodachrome color reversal film.
The film was cut up and reassembled over a light table to produce a 4x4" film mosaic, which was digitally scanned and color inverted.
Exhibited in Czong Institute for Contemporary Art (CICA) Museum "Circle 2025" and Los Angeles Center of Photography "Staring at the Cloud: Collage Between Analog & Digital" (2025).
